Built on a Human Scale
One of the things about the HGTV Green Home 2009 that I really like is that the scale is really "human size." It has a nice flow from room to room, and each room is spacious but not too big. Everything feels open, comfortable and livable.
I also liked the front doors. In their unfinished state (they're going to be painted later) they look like they're made from a light-colored wood. The reality is that they're actually made of fiberglass fitted with wind-resistant glass panes. Until I looked close, I didn't realize they weren't actually wood.
And speaking of wood, when I was out there today, they were putting up the wood around the interior doors. Next week, they're going to start laying the tile and painting the interior, and the landscape architect is about to be brought in.

Everyday i check on the Green Home site to see what's new. The Green Home is like the Dream Home for me. If I woke up everyday in a home like this and at this location, I know it would be like Heaven on Earth. It's just going to be beautiful. It's so hard to believe something like this is just given away. How I would love to get away from this concrete jungle and tiny apartment and move my son to this paradise! I'm checking back tomorrow to see what else is going on! Later Ya'll...

Hi to all looks and sounds great! The place is fabulous, just dreamy and I love all the details you have considered to be green, KUDOS to you!
Now my question: how is being considered in the construction the fact that Florida has a high probability of hurricane hits? I will love to see a video, photos or read on the details on anchoring, reinforcing, anything and YES, still done in a green way. THANKS for giving us a chance to keep dreaming! Good Luck to all.

I visited Port St. Lucie yesterday and I fell in love with it. I can't wait until the contest starts so that I can enter everyday and try to win this dream home for my family.
