Stepping Inside the Home
At the entrance of the home is a very welcoming enclosed foyer. To one side is an impressive table -- it was crafted from a fallen tree, and the base is made from recycled metal. To the left is an extension of the living room with beautiful orange chaises. There is a full wall of storage that contains two mini refrigerators filled with soft drinks and water. The cabinetry is Expresso, and directly in front are two large orange chaises. I loved the orange. It looked so great against the walls, which are painted in Sherwin-Williams "Edgy Gold."
The kitchen cabinets are also Expresso with dark composite Caesarstone countertops and stainless steel Kenmore appliances. Everything, of course, is Energy Star rated. The dining room, which looks out to the patios, has a great big custom-made table fabricated from recycled wood. The top is antique heart pine and the legs are old fence posts. It is covered with pots of orchids. The walls are Sherwin-Williams "Accessible Beige," and a triptych of a horse covers the back wall.
Oh, and click here for a photo gallery of interior construction of the 2009 HGTV Green Home. We'll have another new gallery up soon!

Sounds great! Does it come with the furniture or is it just for show?

I love the wing effect of the home and I wish I could just drive by. Can't wait to start the contest and look inside and out of the finished green giant.

Just sitting here daydreaming about the warmth of the Florida sun. Finished reading the updates, watching videos and viewing all the pictures. Been indoors a lot since a car accident a couple years back and the Massachusetts winter has limited my activities outside. My husband and I love to visit Florida. Our daughter lives down there and it sure would be ideal to live closer to her. Our lives would definitely take a sunnier turn if we could enjoy the Florida sun on a permanent basis. We recycle every thing we can up north and could be extremely happy in a Green home down south. This home sounds and looks wonderful and will definitely be a wonderful dream come true for the winner. Look forward to following it's progress.

Just dreaming about how phenominal it would be to be able to say I watched my new house being built! It would be so wonderful to be close to all my family in Florida and be in such a great community! There are so many fantastic ideas I never thought of in the construction of this house. It's just overwhelming!

Just finish with all the picture. I can't wait to see the inside. This place is the best. I love the floor plan. You guy out did yourself this time. Florida is the best place for a vacation home. I live in Michigan and I love the changing of the weather but give me the warm climate any time.

I just saw the exterior pictures of the house. It really looks gorgeous! I think this is one of the nicest designs you had so far for a giveway home. I keep dreaming that I will one day win one of these home giveways. Thank you for doing this and for allowing us to dream!

I can't wait to see the program on TV !!! We are moving to Florida in June and have to get a rental... How awesome would it be to win the HGTV Green Home.... We have entered for the last 8 years... and for the Green Home for the last 2 before this one.. We have been organic for 10 years and as green as possible.. So, I am dreaming of cooking our first dinner from the herbs and veggies and serving it on the rooftop deck.. I can't wait to see it completed.. What a fantastic concept... I know the interior is going to be beautiful.. The HGTV crew always puts together a creative masterpiece and Linda recycles items that you never would think of.. I can't wait to see the recycled wood tables.... and our son, who is 8,, can not wait to see the kids' room...!! We are all ready to move in.... I love the article that was posted on Shaw as well,, and the explanation of recycled material for green carpet solutions... I would never think that was true... Awesome job HGTV !! Thanks for the education... Good luck to all...I can't wait to watch and blog with everyone.... Can you believe that there were over 39 million entries for the Dream Home... and the winner was from Florida.... Now they are heading to California... !!! I will enter everyday.. and cross my fingers for my family...

I just saw the floor plans for the 2009 Green Home. They look great! I can't wait to see the finished product! I hope the design team does a better job with this home than they did with the 2009 Dream Home.

I have looked over the house and my only concern is that I am waiting for something on the Gulf Coast side. The many green uses such as foundation and the skylights/lights are wonderful. I also loved the storm windows, but wondered why they were not on all windows.
Although I enjoy the Atlantic...are you planning on builing on the Gulf Coast soon?

thank you guys for giving us ordinary people a chance to win such a beautiful house in which with most our incomes we could have never afforded in the first place. =)

Thanks for offering this wonderful eco friendly home to the public. We have relatives that live in FLA and how wonderful it would be to have our own winter home there also. We have entered your home giveaways and watch mostly HGTV programs all the time. I enjoy the information you can gleen from all the programs.

Does anyone know the square footage of the home. I went to HGTV for the virtual tour and it looks wonderful. The bedrooms seemed a bit small and didn't have a dresser. I was thinking it was 2700 sq. ft so the bedrooms must be bigger.

NEED TO KNOW IF WE CAN TOUR THE HOUSE IN PERSON AND WHERE IS THE LOCATION OF THE HOUSE. I AM INLOVE WITH THE ORANGE CHAISE ROOM IT IS SO CLASSIC YET SO COMFORTABLE! I LOOK AT HGTV RELIGIOUSLY YOU ARE THE BEST SHOW EVER!

The nice thing about seeing these pics AFTER seeing HGTV's 360 tour...I could actually see the closet off the foyer entrance.
When I showed the celestory to my hub, he asked how do you change the lightbulbs in the beautiful light fixture? And he really meant "you"..meaning me. :) He knows I can handle the ladder.
The linen look tiles are amazing. I was truly convinced the beautiful tiles were made of linen. Gorgeous product!
Coffee/espresso anyone? The cabinetry & glass tiles in the kitchen is my cup of tea. Along with the solar tubular skylights. I've been doing a lot of research on them and am in the process of convincing hub that's what we MUST have in our own house.
Fabulous Green Dream Home! Thank you for building this with a green purpose and amazing style!
