Go, Go Habitat for Humanity!

This is really putting your money where your mouth is. Habitat for Humanity is hoping to green their homes this year by making all of them LEED certified. That's awesome, in my book.

There's no other demographic of houses that could stand to benefit from a green building certification more than Habitat homes. With utility prices soaring, low income families are finding the cost to keep their homes operating radically changes their standard of living.

This year, Habitat plans to certify all of their homes through the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED for Homes program. Many Habitat chapters (including a development in Kent County, Michigan) have taken this goal on independently, but now it's an overall organizational goal.
