Architecture 2030 Report - Meeting the challenge through building codes

Since building codes and standards vary by state and green building program, meeting the challenge set out by Ed Mazria and Architecture 2030 can be confusing for builders and government agencies. In a new report issued this week...

...Mazria lays out a "simple" chart intended to help businesses and agencies meet the immediate 50% reduction called for by the challenge. The chart compares a number of state codes and "green building" standards to the challenge goals and provides a reasonably simple method of determining where a building stands in relation to the challenge.

The report, entitled Meeting the 2030 Challenge Through Building Codes provides information on the additional reductions beyond specific code levels needed to achieve challenge levels.

Mazria's initiative has been adopted by a number of national agencies and programs, including the American Institute of Architects, the U.S. Green Building Council, and the U.S. Council of Mayors, among others. The full list of participants is also listed in the report.
